the people, places, and things I love

Tis the season… November 19, 2012

This is the week where you’re supposed to acknowledge all that you’re thankful for. And despite the fact that money has been super tight around here, and we’ve been giving things up left and right just so we can survive I realized that there are so many things in my life that I can be thankful for. Because in the end, life is about all the things that make it worth living. The people, the places, the experiences, and yes- the things.

I am thankful that I have a warm house to come home to. A house that is filled with things that make it a home. And I’m thankful to have a car that always starts, and gets me where I need to go.

I’m thankful that I have places to go. I have a job that I wholly enjoy, with co-workers that I genuinely consider friends/ family. I’m able to go to school (and a good school at that), where I’m able to get a great education that prepares me for a career that can take me anywhere in the world I want to go.

I’m thankful for friends. Those people that I love and can complain to. Those people that are there when school is taking up all of my time and I can’t see or even talk to them… they’re still there.

I’m thankful for my husband. He is supportive, generous, and hardworking. He takes care of me when I don’t feel well, listens to me drone on and on about things he doesn’t care about, and will go from store to store when I can’t find just the thing I’m looking for. I’m also thankful for our dog, Rocco. He greets me at the door every time I walk in, and while I’m fairly certain it’s so I can let him outside and give him a treat, it’s still nice to feel wanted like that.

And finally, I’m thankful for my family. We might not agree on everything, and we might not see each other very often, but it’s nice to know that they’re there- and they’ve got my back.

So there you have it people, a small little list of things I’m thankful for. I would love to hear yours =)

Oh fall. September 25, 2012

I’ve been listening to a lot of Bon Iver and City and Colour lately. It’s just that time of year, don’t you think?

I know every blog out there has some post about why they love fall, and how it’s the best time of year (which it is). And I won’t bore you with reasons of why I love fall so much (the colors, the smells, apple picking, pumpkin everything), but I would like to share with you a bit of my favorite fall-y music.

Fall makes me nostalgic, and so does Bon Iver and City and Colour.

Oh fall, why can’t you be year round?

Cleaning out the Cobwebs August 27, 2012

Cleaning is cathartic. No?

Sometimes all I want to do is clean my house. It calms me down and makes me fall in love with our little house all over again. So that’s what I did with this little ‘ol blog. I cleaned up, in hopes that I will fall in love with it all over again.

That’s right. I got rid of all the old stuff that I felt was weighing me down. And it feels good to start over from scratch. Clean slate, kind of like a brand new notebook.

You know what I mean. Don’t pretend you don’t.

A new notebook is fresh and clean. Much like a new school year, it holds of promise of what could be.

Ahhh notebooks. I love them.
